Fajr filmfest highlights Chinese cinema

TEHRAN – The 31st Fajr International Film Festival is holding the Panorama of Chinese Cinema as a separate section in which a number of Chinese films will be screened and reviewed.
 
Chinese Ambassador Yu Hongyang, Iran Cinema Organization Director Javad Shamaqdari and several other officials attended the opening ceremony of the section, which was held at Tehran’s Milad Tower on Thursday.
 
“Aftershock” and “Back to 1942” directed by Xiaogang Feng, “Walking to School” by Peng Chen, “Flying Swords of Dragon Gate” by Hark Tsui, and “Kora” by Du Jiayi are in the lineup for the Panorama of Chinese Cinema.
 
Among the films also are “City Monkey” by Kong Lingchen, “My Mongolian Mother” by Cai Ning, “Ocean Heaven” by Ue Xiao Lu, “Full Circle” by Zhang Yang, and “Reign of Assassins” by Chao-pin Su.
 
Speaking at the ceremony Shamaqdari said that Iranian films have been praised at some Chinese festival over the past decades and added, “China has the potential to become a major market for Iranian films.” 
 
The Iranian family drama “Bear” by Khosrow Masumi won the Golden Goblet Award for best film at the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival in June 2012.
 
The films selected for the Panorama of Chinese Cinema have highly influenced the social development in China, the Chinese ambassador said.
