The decision to sell tickets at half price was made to provide the opportunity for families to see the latest film productions in Iran and from aboard, the Iran Cinema Organization announced in a press release on Wednesday.
Over the past few years, relevant Iranian official organizations have been trying to take measures to encourage people to watch national productions in theaters.
However, the people prefer to watch the latest Iranian film productions and foreign original language films downloaded from the Internet at home.
There has been a certain reluctance of the Iranian people to go to the cinema over the past few years. Analysts believe that the high cost of living in the country is the key factor in this unwillingness.
The 31st edition of the Fajr film festival, which is Iran’s most important event in the motion picture industry, will be held in Tehran from January 31 to February 10.
