Iranian films competing in IDFA 2012

TEHRAN – Four Iranian films are competing in the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), which opened on November 14.  
 
The documentaries are “Revolutionary Memories of Bahman Who Loved Leila” directed by Farahnaz Sharifi, “I Am a White Mercenary” by Taha Karimi, “The One Minute: 25 People” by Mohammadreza Fartusi and “Seconds of Lead” by Seyyed Reza Razavi.
 
“Revolutionary Memories” is an entry to the Non-Competitive Program: Paradocs of the festival, which runs until November 25.
 
The film is about a 20 year old young man named Bahman who falls in love with Leila during the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
 
“I Am a White Mercenary” and “Seconds of Lead” are competing in the Reflecting Images: Panorama Section.
 
“I Am a White Mercenary” features Saeed Jaf who claims to be a ‘Kurdish Schindler’ responsible for saving thousands of Kurds during Saddam Hussain’s infamous Al Anfal genocide in 1988.
 
“Seconds of Lead” narrates the investigations of the Iranian author Narges Abyar on the mass murder committed by the Shah’s army on Zhaleh Square in Tehran on September 8, 1978.
 
“The One Minute: 25 People”, a one-minute film screening a collage of news headlines, is competing in the One Minute Section.
 
Established in 1988, IDFA has been one of the world’s leading documentary film festivals, dedicated to the exhibition and promotion of ground breaking creative documentaries.
