12 films from European directors to go on screen at Iranian festival

TEHRAN -- Twelve films by directors from Germany, France, Hungary, and the Netherlands are scheduled to be screened at the 4th Khorshid Independent Short Film Festival, which will be held in Tehran from January 13 to 15.
 
Among the highlights of the lineup is “The Fly”, which won Hungarian animator Ferenc Rofusz an Academy Award for short animation in 1981. The festival also will screen Rofusz’ “Gravity” (1984)
 
In addition “Glass”, a 1958 short documentary film by Dutch director Bert Haanstra, which won the Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject in 1959, will be screen at the festival. The film is about the glass industry in the Netherlands.
 
Haanstra’s “Zoo” (1962) also will be shown during the festival.
 
The lineup also comprises seven French films, including “Ego” (2006) by directors Louis Blaise, Thomas Lagache, and Bastien Roger, “The Death of Tau” (2002) by Jérome Boulbès, “Ombre portée” (1988) by Marianne Visier.
 
“Timpe Te” by German directors Claus Oppermann and Daniel Schreiber will also be reviewed at the event, which will take place at the Iranian Artists Forum.
 
Over 70 films from Iranian directors will also be competing in the festival.
 
The Khorshid Independent Short Film Festival was established by shortfilmsupport.com, an Iranian website, which is promoting independent short films and documentaries.
