TEHRAN – Paintings reflecting different issues by three female artists are on display in an exhibit entitled “Three Views” at Tehran’s Boom Gallery.

Created by Bita Vakili, Tahereh Samadi-Tari and Bahar Behbahani, the collection highlights war in Kobani, the rush of modern life, as well as images of Persian gardens, the gallery announced in a press release on Sunday.

Three of the seven paintings are inspired by the recent events occurring in (the Syrian Kurdish town of) Kobani, Vakili said, “The paintings reflect a voiceless town under pressure, in which life still goes on,” she added.

Kobani has been the scene of intense fighting between Kurds and the ISIL terrorist group over the past months.

“My paintings depict the hastiness of man in modern life. Invasion, illusion and stress are the repeated concepts in this collection. The stress existing in modern life is the major concept the paintings aim to convey,” Samadi said.

The U.S based artist Behbahani is attending with her collection of Persian gardens. “Persian garden actually means poetry to me and I wanted to convey this concept to the visitors, especially the non-Iranian visitors.”

“When you look at a Persian garden, it is not clear from which direction you are seeing it. It has an endless form and I wanted to depict this specific characteristic (of a Persian garden) in my works,” she added.

A large number of visitors including cineastes Reza Kianian, Marzieh Borumand, Hamid Jebelli and Saman Moqaddam visited the works on the opening day.

The exhibit, which opened on Friday, will run until January 2, 2015 at the gallery located at 11 Armaghan Alley, Vali-e Asr Ave, near Niayesh Highway.
