Bangladesh biennial to display works by Iranian artists 
TEHRAN -- Six works by the Iranian artist Shahnaz Zehtab and Reza Qarebaghi will go on display during the 16th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh, which will be held at the Shlpakala Academy in Dhaka from December 1 to 31.
 
Two paintings by Zehtab and four sculptures by Qarebaqi have been selected to be shown during the biennial.
 
The works have been sent to the biennial by the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art.
 
IAF to review Michael Haneke’s “The White Ribbon”
TEHRAN -- The Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) will review Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke’s “The White Ribbon” during a session on Wednesday.
 
The film depicts strange events, which seem to be ritual punishment, that happen in a small village in northern Germany during the years just before World War I. 
 
The review session will be held at IAF’s Shahnaz Hall after a screening of the film.
 
Cinéma Vérité to screen doc on poet Shamlu’s wife
TEHRAN – A film spotlighting the role of Aida Sarkisian, the widow of Ahmad Shamlu, in the life and works of the Iranian poet will be competing in the 8th edition of Cinéma Vérité, the Iranian international festival for documentary films.
 
Directed by Mokhtar Shokripur, “Aida in the Mirror of Shamlu” will be screened in the national section of the festival, which will be held in Tehran from November 30 to December 7.
 
Reza Mirkarimi on Tbilisi filmfest jury 

TEHRAN -- The Iranian filmmaker Seyyed Reza Mirkarimi has been selected as a member of the jury for the 15th Tbilisi International Film Festival, which will be held in Georgia from December 1 to 7.
 
Mirkarimi’s “Today” and Reza Dormishian’s movie “I’m not Angry” will go on screen during the festival.
 
The Italian producer Marco Müller will preside over the jury, which also is composed of Erika Gregor from Germany, Naum Kleiman from Russia, Ulrich Gregor from Germany, Nana Ekvtimishvili from Georgia, Severija Janušauskaite from Lithuania and Peter Webber from the UK.
 
Iranian animations competing in French festival 

TEHRAN – Five Iranian animations are competing in “RICA” (Rencontres internationales du Cinema d’Animation), an international animated film festival underway in Wissembourg, France (November 17 to 25).
 
“When I Was a Child” by Maryam Kashkulinia, “Kitten” by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi, “White Pigeon Beside Mirror” by Maryam Khalilzadeh, “Cloudy Goat” by Hamid Karimian and “Thief of Tress” by Rashin Kheirieh are the Iranian animations.
 
All the animations are produced by Iran’s Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA). 
 
Tbilisi Book Days to display Iranian illustrations

Tehran -- Works by a large number of Iranian illustrators will be showcased in an exhibition during the Tbilisi Book Days, a festival which will be held at the Expo Georgia Exhibition Centre from November 27-30 
 
Works by over twenty artists, including Maneli Manuchehri, Narges Mohammadi, Karim Nasr, Ali Khodaii, Farshid Shafiei and Mitra Abdollahi, have been selected for the exhibition.
 
Iranian illustrators Ali Buzari, Golriz Gorgani and Sara Kharaman will also hold workshops during the festival.
