TEHRAN -- Tehran-based Hungarian painter Gizella Varga Sinaii’s book “Travel Diary” and prints of her series “Khayyam” have been unveiled at Tehran’s Seen Gallery.

Celebrated filmmaker Khosro Sinaii, who is her spouse, and a group of Iranian artists, including composer Loris Tjeknavorain, critic Javad Mojabi, stage director Pari Saberi and vocalist Sediq Tarif, attended the unveiling ceremony, which was held on Friday.

She used the title of one of her collections for the book, which has been printed by lithography artist Maziar Mosavver-Rahmani in 100 copies. Prints of the “Khayyam” collection were also created by Mosavver-Rahmani.

“Although I am of Hungarian origin, all my memories and perfect moments and what is related to art has been formed over the past 50 years that I have lived in Iran,” Varga Sinaii said at the ceremony.

The book contains seven chapters, which each begins with verses of poems by Khosro Sinaii. The poems are relevant to the works published in each chapter.

“In this collection that I began to create ten years ago, I have depicted my 50-year journey from the West to the East, and I add one or two works to the collection every year,” Varga Sinaii previously stated.

Khosro Sinaii also delivered a short speech at the ceremony.

“Gizella left her country in 1967 to live in Iran after her marriage to me and she has lived as an eminent artist in Iran,” he said.

“Most of her works reflect her perception of Iranian art and culture,” he added.

He said that Gizella had come under the influence of Iranian poet Omar Khayyam for a period of time and her collection “Khayyam” is the outcome of the period.

“Gizella”, a documentary directed by Sinaii twenty years ago about the life story of his wife, was also screened at the ceremony.

In addition, Gizella’s short film entitled about “Travel Diary” about the collection was also shown for the audience.

She made the film to be screened at the 2nd Tehran Mobile Film and Photo Festival, which was held in September.
