TEHRAN – An exhibition of paintings on the theme of women’s problems: their pain and sorrow, will open in Tehran’s Shila Gallery on February 13.
Entitled “Sterile Women”, a collection of 10 paintings by Maryam Salahi will go on show at the exhibit.
“The women of my paintings are reserved, shy and isolated. They express their feelings with their eyes. The women in the paintings have no mouths, so their eyes reflect their feelings,” Salahi told the Persian service of ISNA on Saturday.
“This is my personal view on these types of women. I wanted the viewers to experience the feelings of pain and hope when they see the works. I did not desire to impose my personal opinion on them,” she added.
Salahi is a Ph.D. student in the field of art. She has so far held several exhibits in Iran and Turkey.
She mostly focuses on women in her works. Her last exhibit in Turkey centered on women in war.
The exhibition will run until February 19 at the gallery located at 2 Gilan Alley, off Vali-e Asr Ave. near Taleqani Ave.
