The group was commissioned by the Iranian universal TV network Sahar to dub the children’s serial, Sahar announced in a press release on Sunday.
The group, which includes Perviz Bagirov, Mahir Mirishov, Shahla Aligizi, Bayram Mahmudov, Serdar Rustamov and Nasiba Eldarova, was directed by Suleyman Farzaliyev. Kenul Javadova translated the dialogues into Azeri.
The series, which is an adaptation of the Persian folk tale “The Uninvited Guests”, was produced in 1987.
Director Marzieh Borumand made a major change in the story and she wrote the grandmother’s character based on the life story of Naneh Halimeh, an old midwife who lived in a village near the northern Iranian seaport of Bandar Anzali.
The puppet of the grandmother was also created based on the face of Naneh Halimeh.
Borumand hired a group of prominent actors including Bahram Shahmohammadlu, Reza Babak, Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Maryam Sa’adat, Masud Keramati, Hengameh Mofid, Azadeh Purmokhtar, Razieh Borumand and Jormuz Hedayat to voice the puppets.
