Iranian critic on Italian filmfest panel

TEHRAN -- The Iranian film critic and scholar Farzam Amin-Salehi is on the jury for the Religion Today Film Festival, which began in several Italian cities yesterday.
 
The jury also includes Italian filmmaker Roberta Cortella, Tunisian film critic Lassaad Jamoussi, Norwegian scholar Kjartan Salvesen Leer and U.S. filmmaker Gillis Mendel.  
 
Amin-Salehi will also give a lecture on the relation between cinema and religion after World War II during the festival.
 
Iranian movies “Beloved Sky” directed by Dariush Mehrjuii, “Modest Reception” by Mani Haqiqi and “The Poor” by Mohammadreza Arab compete in Feature Film Section of the festival.
 
“Gharqa” by Zeinab Qorbani-Faryad, “Mystery of Look” by Hamid Sa’adat and “Time of Shadow Silence” by Osman Mohammadi are among the entries of the short film section.
 
“Mashti Esmaeil” by Mehdi Zamanpur, “Ali, and the Lion of God” by Mohammad-Jafar Baqerinia and “Agha Seyyed’s Girls” by Fatemeh Heidari have been accepted in documentary section of the festvial.
 
“Conflicts, Religions and (Non)violence” is the theme of this year’s festival, which will be held in Trento and several other Italian cities from October 12 to 24.
