TEHRAN – A rare manuscript of Nahj-ul-Balagha of Imam Ali (AS) dating back to the Qajar era (1796-1925) will be unveiled during a seminar at Tehran’s Milad Tower on Thursday.

The edition has been inscribed by Mohammad Hossein ibn Ali Askar Arsanjani in the naskh style of calligraphy and illuminated by Mahmud Mazahhab-Bashi, the Persian service of MNA reported on Sunday.

The book, which was commissioned by one of the dignitaries of Fars Province Ebrahim Qavam Shirazi, known as Qavamolmolk, belongs to a private collector whose name was not disclosed in the report.

Contemporary masters of calligraphy including Gholamhossein Amirkhani, Ahmad Falsafi, and Mojtaba Sabzeh have closely inspected and praised the masterpiece.

A copy of the book to be published by Farhizesh Publications will also be unveiled along with the original book at the Seminar on Nahj-ul-Balagha on Thursday.

Secretary of the seminar Kazem Haqshenas said that the book is being published under the supervision of calligraphy master Sabzeh.

The book contains a preface written by master of nastaliq style of calligraphy Amirkhani, in which he has regarded publication of the book a good opportunity for students of calligraphy, miniature, and illumination.

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini and Supreme Leader’s top advisor Ali Akbar Velayati are expected to attend the ceremony.
