TEHRAN -- The Iranian family drama “Bear” has found its way into the Films from the South Festival, which is running from October 4 to 14 in Oslo, Norway.

The international award-winning film by director Khosrow Masumi is an entry into the competition section of the festival, Farabi Cinematic Foundation reported in a press release published on Tuesday.

The film is about a person missing in action and declared a martyr, Nureddin, who comes home after eight years of being a prisoner of war (POW).

He finds his wife remarried and the mother of two children. Longing for nothing more than a simple family life with his wife, Nureddin struggles to fight reality.

“Bear” won the Golden Goblet Award for best film at the 15th Shanghai International Film Festival on Sunday.

Starring Parviz Parastuii, Merila Zarei and Farhad Aslani, the film has also won two Crystal Simorghs at the 30th Fajr International Film Festival.

In cooperation with the Oslo Cinematheque, this year’s festival will include a celebration of the oldest Japanese film studio Nikkatsu.
