TEHRAN -- Tajik musician and singer Davlatmand Kholov will accompany the Iranian ensemble Avay-e Mehrabani during concerts at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on June 22 and 23.
Kholov has chosen a selection of songs from the Khorasan region in northeastern Iran, Avay-e Mehrabani leader and singer Soheila Purgerami said in a press release on Wednesday.
Kholov’s great interest in the music of this region owes its origin to the fact that the Khorasani dialect is somewhat close to the Tajik Persian dialect, she added.
“A fusion traditional, pop and jazz music is scheduled to be performed during the concerts in order to make pop fans more familiar with traditional songs and help them experience both in a new combination,” Purgerami stated.
CDs containing some previous fusion performances of the ensemble will be distributed before the concerts.
