TEHRAN – A total of 250 works have been submitted to the second edition of the Little Prince Literary Award, the organizer announced on Sunday.
Cheragh-e Motale’eh, an Iranian literary foundation, has established the award to honor Persian storywriters under 15 in commemoration of “The Little Prince” author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
A jury will select 25 works out of the 250 submissions in the first stage, award secretary Maryam Sistani said.
Five nominations for the award will be announced in the second stage and the award will be presented to a winner during a ceremony in Tehran on September 22, she added.
The winner will receive a cash prize, a Little Prince statuette, an honorary diploma, and a series of books for children and young adults.
In addition, the other four winners each will receive an honorary diploma and a series of books for children and young adults.
Ahmad Akbarpur, Abuzar Qasemian, Marzieh Jokar and Fatemeh Forutan are the jury members of the contest.
“The Little Prince”, first published in 1943, is a novella, and the most famous work of the French writer and poet Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The novella is both the most read and most translated book in the French language, and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France.
