Roxana Manuchehri’s collection is currently on display in an exhibition at Tehran’s Asar Gallery.
Elements from Renaissance art make backdrops for the shadow-like motifs from Persian miniature painting in this collection.
The paintings reflect Manuchehri’s concern about the absence of harmony between cultures and the historical periods of various nations.
Manuchehri, 38, lived in Seoul for three years after she left Iran in 2007. She then moved to Dublin, Ireland, in 2010.
She wanted to show the environmental impact of the various places on her works in the collection “Shadow Show”.
“I lives abroad and I have been influenced by the atmosphere. In fact, the Eastern elements and figures are the embodiment of my inner feelings and the Western atmosphere of my works is the influence of the place I live in,” he added.
The range of the artist’s palette is limited.
“I select the colors based on my feeling and the concept I want to convey,” Manuchehri noted.
“Shadow Show” will run until February 18 at the gallery located on Barforushan St. off Iranshahr St.
