TEHRAN -- Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) announced on Sunday that it will not screen “Argo”.

IRIB Deputy Director Ali Darabi said on Friday that its Namayesh Channel, which is dedicated to screening films and TV series, was assigned to mull over a screening of the Hollywood thriller.

“According to examinations carried out by the Namayesh Channel, the anti-Iranian film ‘Argo’ will not be screened, but it will be reviewed during a program,” IRIB announced in a press release.

The channel is currently making a program entitled “Performances of Jugglery”, during which “Argo” will be analyzed.

“300”, Warner Bros. film about the Persian king Xerxes, and “Persepolis”, an autobiographical animation by Paris-based Iranian filmmaker Marjane Satrapi, which both are viewed in Iran as anti-Iranian films, will also be discussed during the program.
