Twenty-four plays will be performed by Iranian and foreign troupes in the International section of the festival.
Among the plays are “The Woman Rushed under the Train” by director Mehriban Alekperzadeh from Azerbaijan, “Seven Plus 7” by Eric Deniaud from Lebanon, “The Tempest” by Lorella Serni and Duccio Barlucchi from Italy.
“Seven Nights with an Uninvited Guest in New York” will be staged by Iranian actor/director Farhad Aiish in this section.
A jury composed of Iranian actor/director Davud Rashidi, theater expert Majid Sarsangi, director Masud Rayegan and Azeri director Jannat Selim Ava will judge the entries to this section, festival executive director Peyman Shariati said at a press conference on Monday.
Mahmud Azizi, Tajbakhsh Fanaiian, Khosro Khorshidi, Mohammad-Ali Khabari and Rahmat Amini are the members of the Iranian competition jury.
The festival is scheduled to honor veteran stage artists Behruz Baqaei, Sorayya Shirzadi, and Mahmud Ostad-Mohammad for their lifetime achievements during the closing ceremony of the festival on January 31.
Shariati said that the festival will be held with the help of Qasr Museum Garden, the Iranian Artists Forum, Tehran’s Art Bureau, and the Beautification Organization of the Tehran Municipality.
“However, the Culture Ministry is the only sponsor of the festival,” he noted.
The festival will also host several foreign theater academics and stage artists.
The Tbilisi International Festival of Theater General Manager Ekaterina Mazmishvili has been invited to attend the festival.
The City Theater Complex, the Sangelaj Hall, the Honar Hall, the Samandarian Hall of the Iranshahr Theater Complex, the Ezatollah Entezami Hall of the Iranian Artists Forum, the Mehr Hall of Tehran's Art Bureau, the Ferdowsi Hall, the Hafez Hall and a hall of the Aav Art Center will host the performances during the festival.
