TEHRAN -- Three veteran musicians will be honored at the 28th Fajr International Music Festival in February.
Oud virtuoso Mansur Nariman, horn virtuoso Sharif Lotfi and composer Ahmad-Ali Ragheb will receive lifetime achievement awards during the event, festival secretary Hassan Riahi said in a press conference on Tuesday.
Six halls in Tehran will host 57 musical ensembles during the festival, which will be held from February 13 to 19.
About 70 ensembles had applied to participate in the festival, Riahi stated.
A number of pop stars have also been selected to perform during festival.
Among them are Ehsan Khajeh-Amiri, Babak Jahanbakhsh, Farzad Farzin, Sirvan Khosravi, Maziar Fallahi and Mohsen Yeganeh.
The Tehran Symphony Orchestra and Iran’s National Orchestra will also give separate performances during the festival.
The Vahdat Hall, Rudaki Hall, the Iranian Artists Forum, Milad Tower, the Arasbaran Cultural Center, and the Institute of Culture, Art and Communications will host the performances during the event, he said.
