Iranian actress on Dubai filmfest panel

TEHRAN -- Iranian actress Fatemeh Motamed-Arya has been selected for a jury of the 9th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), which will be held from December 9 to 16.
 
She will be on the panel for the categories of Muhr Arab and Muhr Asia Africa.
 
France honored Motamed-Arya with the Henri-Langlois Prix in January 2012 for her lifetime endeavors in the promotion of cinema and maintenance of professional cultural values.
 
She won the best actress award at the World Film Festival in Montréal for her portrayal of a mother of a physically challenged girl in Bahram Tavakkoli’s “Here without Me” in August 2011.
 
The jury also consists of British director Michael Apted, New Zealander actress Kerry Fox, Brazilian director Bruno Barreto, South Korean director, screenwriter and novelist Chang Dong Lee, and UAE’s first female film producer Nayla Al Khaja.
 
A total of 83 films will compete for over $575,000 in prize money in three categories – Muhr Emirati, Muhr Arab and Muhr Asia Africa.
 
Three Iranian films will be screened in various sections of the event.
 
“Taboor” directed by Vahid Vakilifar and “Ziba” by Bani Khoshnudi will be screened in the Muhr Asia Africa section.
 
“Kahrizak, Four Views”, a documentary in which each of four directors of different ages and levels of experience present a view of the Kahrizak Charity Center, will be shown in the Muhr Asia Africa Documentary section. 
 
This film was directed by Bahman Kiarostami, Mohsen Amiryusefi, Piruz Kalantari and Rakhshan Bani-Etemad.
