Works from Shadi Qadirian’s “Qajar” collection, Newsha Tavakolian’s “Mothers of Martyrs” collection, and Mehraneh Atashi’s “Zurkhaneh” have been selected for the exhibit, which is also presenting photos by 27 other photographers from 13 countries in the Middle East.
Organized by V&A Museum and the British Museum, the exhibit runs until April 7, 2013.
“Light from the Middle East” is divided into three sections, Recording, Reframing and Resisting, each of which focuses on a different approach to the medium of photography, organizers said.
The exhibition explores the ways in which these artists investigate the language and techniques of photography. The works range from documentary photographs and highly staged tableaux to images manipulated beyond recognition.
