TEHRAN – Iranian vocalist Alireza Qorbani’s new album entitled “Drops of Rain” has recently been released in Tehran.
The album, which contains pieces composed and performed by brothers Sohrab and Tahmures Purnazeri, was unveiled during a ceremony at the Iranian Academy of Art on Friday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sohrab Purnazari said that the album contains a variety of compositions accompanied with declamations by poet Ali-Akbar Nabati who is known as Parto Kermanshahi.
Qorbani in his short speech expressed his happiness to have collaborated with Shams and said, “The main thing in this album is that most of the compositions bear the taste and smell of Iranian music. It helps promote Iranian original music, a music that is rooted in Iranian radif”.
The radifs are the total collection of more than 200 gushehs -- traditional melodic entities -- in all 12 dastgahs.
Poet Mohammad-Ali Bahmani, also attending the ceremony, said that the album is a sweet connection between music and poetry.
