TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that the Persian language is a means of Iran’s authority in the current changing world.
“One of our basic principles of power is our culture. The study of this culture can restore our joint cultural and historical interests with India, and the countries located in Central Asia, and east and north Africa,” he stated in a visit to the Sadi Foundation in Tehran on Wednesday.
“Not only for religion but also for the influence of the Persian language, we have shared interest with people of these countries,” noted Zarif, who is a member of the board of the trustees for the Sadi Foundation.
Zarif also met Sadi Foundation Director Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, who is the director of the Academy of Persian Language and Literature.
Issues concerning the expansion of the Persian language abroad were discussed during the meeting.
“Zarif is a successful diplomat who enjoys a profound cultural attitude, and this aspect of his personality makes those of us in this foundation hopeful,” Haddad-Adel said.
“The main focus of Sadi Foundation’s activities is outside of Iran, so the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can help the foundation accomplish its mission,” he added.
The Sadi Foundation was established by the Academy of Persian Language and Literature in 2013 to preserve and promote Persian language in Iran and other countries.
