TEHRAN -- The 33rd Fajr Film Festival will open on February 1 in Tehran with Majid Majidi’s “Muhammad (S)”, which is about the childhood of the Prophet of Islam, Cinema Organization of Iran Director Hojjatollah Ayyubi said on Wednesday.
He announced the news as he accompanied a large group of journalists, critics and correspondents of some TV channels in a visit to the set of “Muhammad (S)” on location near the city of Qom.
The visit was organized by Nurtaban Film Industry, an Iranian film company, which is the producer of the blockbuster that Majidi completed in 2014.
The set, which was built in an area of 100 hectares in 2011, is composed of places in Mecca and Medina during the early years of the life of the Prophet of Islam.
Majidi, Nurtaban director Mohammadreza Saberi and a number of actors also attended a press conference as part of the visiting program.
A logotype designed by veteran calligrapher Jalil Rasuli for the film was also unveiled.
“Muhammad (S)” is the most expensive film project to date produced in Iran.
A number of the world’s professionals, including Academy Award winning visual effects supervisor and filmmaker Scott E. Anderson, three-time Academy Award winning Italian director of photography Vittorio Storaro and world-renowned Croat production designer Miljen Kreka Kljakovic, collaborated in this project.
