Intl. Quran Competition for Muslim Students announces winners

TEHRAN – The winners of the 5th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students were announced during the closing ceremony of the event at Tehran’s Milad Tower on Sunday evening.
 
In the Quran recitation section, Vahid Khazaei from Iran won the first prize. The second prize went to Mahmud Kamal Najjar from Egypt and Abdul Ali Muhammad Qasim al-Sadeqi from Iraq won the third prize.
 
In the Quran memorization section, the first prize went to Muhammad Niazi from Egypt, Mohammad-Javad Mohammadi-Majd from Iran won the second prize and Mahmud al-Kafri from Lebanon was honored with the third prize.
 
Quran reciters from 50 countries, including Iran, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Thailand competed in event, which is organized biennially by the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR).
 
Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Farhadi, Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Tehran City Council member Ahmad Masjed-Jamei and several other Iranian officials attended the ceremony.
