TEHRAN -- The University of Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris will be playing host to an international conference on Iranology during February.

A number of Iranian and French Iranologists and scholars are expected to attend the week-long conference, which will begin on February 27, the Persian service of MNA reported on Tuesday.

Entitled “International Conference of Iranology in France, Yesterday’s Experience, Tomorrow’s Panorama”, the conference aims to make French Iranologists familiar with the academic activities of Iranian researchers in history, archaeology, philosophy, art, and Persian language and literature.

French Orientalist and Hafez expert Charles-Henri de Fouchecour, French archaeologist Rémy Boucharlat, French geographer Bernard Hourcade, and historian and researcher Sabrina Mervin are among the French members of the academic board of the conference.

The Iranian members include Iranian Society of Cultural Works and Luminaries Director Mehdi Mohaqeq, academic member of the Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies Mostafa Asi, literary figure Jaleh Amuzgar and researcher Nasser Takmil-Homayun.

Discussion panels and visiting academic centers have also been arranged on the sidelines of the program.

The conference has been organized by Iran’s cultural attaché’s office in France in collaboration with several French institutions.
