TEHRAN -- The director of Italy’s National Museum of Oriental Art said that the museum plans to organize an exhibition of artifacts discovered in Iran’s 5200-year-old Burnt City.

The quality and number of the artifacts will be announced after the museum receives the necessary permissions from Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization, Lorenzo Costantini told the Persian service of IRNA on Tuesday.

He said that the exhibition will most likely be held in October 2013.

Costantini and a number of his colleagues visited a Burnt City site-specific museum last week. He has participated in several seasons of archaeological excavations at the ancient site.

The Burnt City is located 57 kilometers from the Iranian town of Zabol in Sistan-Baluchestan Province.

A 10-centimeter ruler with an accuracy of half a millimeter, an artificial eyeball, an earthenware bowl bearing the world’s oldest example of animation and many other artifacts have been discovered in the ruins of the city during several seasons of archaeological excavations.
