TEHRAN -- A number of Iranian film productions have won awards at the Al-Ghadir International Festival in Iraq.
“Way to Heaven”, a feature directed by Mehdi Sabbaqzadeh, won the special jury award during the closing ceremony of the festival in Najaf on Saturday, the Sahar Universal Network announced in a press release on Monday
Produced by the Sahar Universal Network, the film is about the life of Mus’ab ibn Umair, a companion of Prophet Muhammad (S).
“The Story of Samarra”, an animated film about terrorism, which was directed by Hossein Soltani and Vahid Chalak, won the best children’s film award.
In addition, “180 Degree”, an Al Kausar TV show, won the best children’s special program award.
The Iranian actor Reza Ruygari was also honored for his role in “Way to Heaven” and “Mokhtarnameh”, an Iranian TV series on a Shia uprising during the seventh century.
Productions from 37 countries were screened at the festival, which was held from November 5 to 9.
