TEHRAN -- Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati has said that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is mulling over a plan to establish a union for the radio and television broadcasters in its member states.
Jannati made the remarks during a press conference that he held in Tehran on Wednesday to brief the media about subjects discussed during the 10th Islamic Conference of Information Ministers.
OIC Secretary General Iyad bin Amin Madani also attended the press conference.
“The subject of establishing a union for radio and televisions in the OIC member states was discussed at the conference,” Jannati said.
“The OIC is examining the necessary financial, technical, professional and administrational possibilities for establishing the union,” he added.
Tehran hosted the 10th Islamic Conference of Information Ministers was held with the motto “Media Convergence for Peace and Calm in the Islamic World” from December 1 to 4.
