TEHRAN – Another Spanish translation of the Iranian bestselling war novel “Da” have been completed.
Maryam Haqrusta, who is the assistant professor of Latin American studies at the University of Tehran, is the translator of the book, which will published by Iran’s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).
“I have spent three years translating the book, which will be published before March 2015,” she told the Persian service of Fars News Agency.
Written by Seyyedeh Azam Hosseini, “Da” was published in 2008 and soon became an Iranian bestseller. It contains recollections by Seyyedeh Zahra Hosseini of the time when the Iraqi army captured Khorramshahr during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.
“The reason for translation of ‘Da’ is that I want to tell other nations about the role of Iranian women in society and the sacrifices they made during the war,” Haqrusta said
Najmeh Shobeiri, who is the director of the Spanish Language Department of the Translation Office of the Art Bureau, also translated the book into Spanish. This version is scheduled to be published by Sureh-Mehr Publications in June 2015.
An English version of “Da” translated by American scholar Paul Sprachman under the title of “One Woman’s War” was published by Mazda Publications in April 2014.
