TEHRAN – A collection of works by Iranian miniaturist Kamaleddin Qotb is currently on display at the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Art Center in Pendikt, a district in the Turkish capital Istanbul.
The collection contains 40 works with the central theme of peace and creation.
Iran’s cultural Attache Javad Amini and a number of Istanbul municipal officials attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which was held on Friday.
Timur Bilir, who teaches at the Department of Traditional Turkish Handicrafts at Mimar Sinan University, praised Persian art and culture in his short speech.
He said that Iranian artworks are great, and that miniature stands on top. He also added that Iranian art exhibits are highly regarded in Turkey due to the cultural commonalities between the two countries.
Qotab is a graduate of painting. He began to learn miniature from his father 28 years ago. He has held several exhibits in Iran, Europe and the United States.
