IRIB will bring media elite together to enhance activities: new director

TEHRAN -- Mohammad Sarafraz, the new director of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, says he plans to bring media elite together in order to enhance the activities of the institution.

Sarafraz made the remarks at the IRIB International Conference Hall on Tuesday during the ceremony in which he was inaugurated as the new director of IRIB.

“We need to make efficient use of the workforce; today information processing speaks first and the world powers are making (the best) use of it,” he said.

People across the world are spending more hours watching TV, Sarafraz stated, adding, “There needs to be favorable conditions for viewers to be able to watch their favorite programs at their favorite times.”

Iranian Majlis speaker Ali Larijani also attending the ceremony called management of the IRIB organization very complicated and difficult.

“The IRIB director and his colleagues are actively involved in work all day long and I need to express my thanks to the former (IRIB) director Ezzatolh Zarghami and his colleagues for their 10 long years of hard work,” Larijani said.

A large number of officials, ministers and cineastes including Mohammad Ali Keshavaraz, Siruz Moqaddam, Dariush Arjomand and Ali Nasirian attended the ceremony.

Sarafraz was officially appointed the new IRIB director by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday.
