TEHRAN – Finnish graphic Designer Kari Piippo is scheduled to display a collection of his works in an exhibition, which will open at the Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran on November 28.

The exhibit is part of a program that the Momayyez Foundation has arranged to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the death of Iranian graphic designer Morteza Momayyez, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Wednesday.

Piippo, who lives and works in Finland, studied at the department of graphic design at the School of Industrial Arts in Helsinki.

He has held many individual and group exhibitions, poster workshops and lectures inside and outside of his country.

The Momayyez Foundation annually commemorates Momayyez, who is considered the father of modern graphic design in Iran, by organizing exhibitions to display the works of international graphic designers in Tehran.

Swiss graphic designer Niklaus Troxler held an exhibition in Tehran in 2011. Troxler’s compatriot Bruno Monguzzi held an exhibition in 2010.

French graphic designer Pierre Bernard also organized a showcase in Tehran in 2008 in commemoration of Momayyez.

Momayyez died of prostate cancer in Tehran on November 26, 2005. He was the chairman of the board of directors of the Iranian Graphic Designers Society from 1988 to 2004.

Several programs have been arranged on the sidelines including an exhibition of early sketches by Momayyez and an exhibition of posters and logos by Ebrahim Haqiqi.

The exhibit will run until December 4 at the Forum located on Musavi St., off Taleqani Ave.
