TEHRAN -- Iranian-born British singer Sami Yusuf has performed a song for “Muhammad (S)”, Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s blockbuster about the childhood of Prophet of Islam.

Yusuf sang the end-credits song for a score that Indian musician A.R. Rahman has composed for the film, IndiaGlitz reported in October.

“A.R. Rahman is a good brother of mine,” said Yusuf, who was described as “Islam’s biggest rock star” by Time magazine in 2006.

“I’ve known him for about eight years. We are fans of each other, I’m a bigger fan, of course, but we like each other’s music. He came over to Sharjah and we spent some time together. We hold a very close fraternal relationship,” he added.

Majidi directed “Muhammad (S)”, which is the most expensive film project to date produced in Iran, in collaboration with a number of the world’s professionals, including Academy Award winning visual effects supervisor and filmmaker Scott E. Anderson, three-time Academy Award winning Italian director of photography Vittorio Storaro, world-renowned Croat production designer Miljen Kreka Kljakovic.

The film is scheduled to premiere on January 9, 2015, which is birthday of Prophet Muhammad (S).
