TEHRAN -- The Iranian international festival for documentary films, Cinéma Vérité, plans to honor Peruvian-born Dutch documentarian Heddy Honigmann with a lifetime achievement award.

She will receive the award during the closing ceremony of the festival in Tehran on December 7, the organizers announced in a press release on Saturday.

The 8th edition of Cinéma Vérité, which is scheduled to open on November 30, will also screen her documentaries “Good Husband, Dear Son” (2001), “Metal and Melancholy” (1993), “Forever” (2006) and “Oblivion” (2008).

Honigmann is scheduled to hold a workshop on how to interview in a documentary film at the festival.

In November 2013, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), one the largest celebrations of the documentary genre in the world, honored Honigmann with its Living Legend Award.

The 2014 IDFA is also scheduled to open with Honigmann’s “Around the World in 50 Concerts”, which is about her tours with Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. The film reveals the power of music in different countries and cultures.

She will also hold a master class at the IDFA, which will be held from November 19 to 30.

Honigmann has received accolades in many major international events for her films.

She was crowned best international director at New Zealand’s Documentary Edge Festival in 2009 for her “Oblivion”.

Her “Forever” also won the Golden Calf for Best Long Documentary at the Netherlands Film Festival in 2006.
