TEHRAN -- Screenplays of seven films by written director Asghar Farhadi have recently been published in a book in Tehran.
Publisher Cheshmeh plans to unveil the book entitled “Seven Screenplays from Asghar Farhadi” during a ceremony at the Kurosh Cinema Complex on Saturday.
The book contains the screenplays “Dancing in the Dust”, “Beautiful City”, “Firework Wednesday”, “About Elly”, “A Separation” and “The Past”, all of which were directed by Farhadi.
The book also carries the screenplay “Tambourine”, which was directed by Farhadi’s wife, Parisa Bakhtavar.
“As I review the screenplays, what has become bolder and more discernable – from ‘Dancing in the Dust’ to ‘The Past’ – is nothing but a question mark. A question mark, which has become bigger and more multidimensional from one script to another,” Farhadi wrote in the preface to the book.
“If I have been able to reinforce the courage for inquiry in the fans of my films and to reduce their fear of planting a question mark in the minds, I will be satisfied with the life that I spent writing,” he added.
“A Separation” won the 2012 Oscar for best foreign film.
