TEHRAN – Iranian cartoonist Yaser Khanbaraii won third prize at the World Press Cartoon, which was held in Sintra, Portugal mid October.
He won the prize in the caricature section for his work entitled “Barack Obama”.
The Grand Prix of the section went to Indian cartoonist Shankar Pamarthy for his work “Mandela”.
Tehran centers to host tazieh performances
TEHRAN -- Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center and the Kurosh Cinematic Complex will host performances of tazieh (Iranian passion play) during the mourning season of Muharram.
A troupe led by Alaeddin Qasemi will perform at Niavaran every night from October 26 to November 4
The Kurosh Cinematic Complex will host performances from October 26 to 28.
The performances have been organized to commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and a number of his companions in 680 CE.
Tazieh recounts religious events, historical and mythical stories, and folk tales. Each performance has the four components of poetry, music, song and motion.
