TEHRAN -- Persian versions of French writer Patrick Modiano’s books have joined the top five bestsellers of Tehran’s major bookstores since October 9 after he won the 2014 Nobel Prize for Literature.

Six out of seven major bookstores managed by the Book City Institute, and the Ofoq, Salis, Amir Kabir and Cheshmeh publishing companies have announced that Persian versions of six books by Modiano have been among their top five bestselling books over the past ten days, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Saturday.

The six books are “Rue des Boutiques Obscures” (“Missing Person”) and “Dans le Café de la Jeunesse Perdue” translated into Persian by Sasan Tabassomi, “Quartier Perdu” translated into Persian by Asghar Nuri, “Un Cirque Passe” translated into Persian by Nasim Musavi, “L’Horizon” translated into Persian by Hossein Soleimaninejad, and “Les Boulevards de Ceinture” (“Ring Roads”) translated into Persian by Arash Naqibian.

“Un Cirque Passe” debuted at the top of Cheshmeh’s bestsellers list and “L’Horizon”, “Rue des Boutiques Obscures”, and “Quartier Perdu” took the second to fourth places on the list.

None of the books were among the top five bestsellers at a branch of the Book City Institute located on Beheshti Avenue.
