TEHRAN – Secretary of the 15th Tehran International Puppet Theater Festival – Mobarak, Marzieh Borumand, elaborated on the different programs of the festival due to run in Tehran from September 13 to 20.
The puppeteers are scheduled to meet in front of Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on Friday, one day ahead of the festival, to pay their respects to the deceased puppeteers at the Artists Section of Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery, Borumand said in a press conference on Tuesday.
The carnival of puppeteers will walk from the secretariat of the festival on Felestin Street to the courtyard of Tehran’s City Theater Complex on Saturday afternoon, she added.
Expressing her regrets over the participation of only a small number of puppet shows from other cities in this edition of the festival, she promised that their directors would have the chance to attend the festival and watch the performances.
In addition, organizers have also been able to rent a house to display the Persian puppets and dolls. “Tehran Municipality has rented the house for one year, however we hope to be able to extend the term,” she wished.
Groups of puppeteers from Germany, Serbia, Armenia, Spain and China will perform during the festival, she said.
