Greek festival to screen “My Fragile Doll” 
TEHRAN – Another Iranian animation “My Fragile Doll” directed by Ali Zare’ will go on screen at the 11th Naoussa International Film Festival in Greek.
 
The film, which is based on the short story with the same title written by the Iranian author Hushang Golshiri, is about a young girl who reconstructs events leading to her father’s imprisonment and execution using dolls her mother has made.
 
“Chabahar Launch” by Hossein Mazlum and “One for Me, One for You” by Babak Sobhani will also go on screen during the festival, which will be held in Greece from September 24 to 28. 
 
 
Niavaran complex to display paintings by Kamalolmolk
 
TEHRAN – An exhibition of paintings by the Qajar era painter Mohammad Ghaffari (1847-1940), known as Kamalolmolk, is currently underway at the Sahebqaranieh Palace of Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural and Historical Complex.
 
The exhibition, which runs until September 24, displays 30 works by Kamalolmolk, who served as a court painter during the reign of Qajar king Nasser ad-Din Shah.
 
 
Literati commemorate author Jalal Al-e Ahmad
TEHRAN – Iranian literati and scholars gathered at Tehran Municipality’s Art and Cultural Organization on Monday to commemorate author Jalal Al-e Ahmad (1923–1969) on the eve of his death anniversary.
 
Deputy Culture Minister for Cultural Affairs Seyyed Abbas Salehi, Akbar Jabbari, Mohammadreza Javadi-Yeganeh and a large number of other literati and cultural officials attended the commemoration, which was organized by the of Iranian Fiction and Poetry Foundation. 
 
Jalal Al-e Ahmad was a prominent Iranian writer and a social and political critic. His works “Plagued by the West”, “A Stone on a Grave” and “By the Pen” were translated into English by American translator Paul Sprachman.
