TEHRAN – Groups of puppeteers from Germany, Serbia, Armenia, Spain and China will perform at the 15th Tehran International Puppet Theater Festival – Mobarak.
The German director Anne-Kathrin Klatt and her puppeteer colleague Claudia Sill will stage “Solo Act with a Nose - A Play of Metamorphosis”, which is a visually poetic journey of discovery through the adventure of becoming alive.
The El Retrete de Dorian Gray Company from Spain will perform “Air Street” (Rúa Aire).
They work with their hands, with hats, with balloons and with objects that are more than they appear. In their skilful hands, audiences enter into an inflatable nightmare: a trip through the realm of fantasy into the bowels of a balloon-processing machine.
The Bajkamela Puppet Theater led by Serbian director Amela Vucenovic will perform “There Far Away”, which is about a man who starts a journey to find his love in Serbia.
The Mimos Marionette Theater from Armenia will stage “A Tale about the Wolf”.
Nune Jrbashyan will direct the show, which is about a lonely and hungry wolf who cannot hunt anymore.
The Chinese groups Jiangxi, Jinjiang and Haining are also scheduled to stage plays based on stories from world literature and their folk culture at the festival, which will be held from September 13 to 20.
