
The film received the award for “the high artistic content of the film and its special respect for humanity, culture, music, family and especially for the woman,” organizers announced on Sunday.
The prize is presented by the Piuculture Jury that is made up of 5 foreign citizens living in Rome.
The jury aims to put the Italian public in touch with foreign people and cultures, which are often perceived in a distorted or hazy manner.
“The Last Step” focuses on Leila’s recently deceased husband who becomes the somewhat unreliable narrator of a playful and delicately ironic story about a complicated but loving marital relationship.
The festival, which was held from October 19 to 28, aims to promote the Intercultural Dialogue through high quality cinema and audio visual media, and instruments.
The movie star Leila Hatami won the Best Actress Award at 47th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in July 2012.
