TEHRAN -- A group of Russian literati and scholars will travel to Iran to participate in a series of literary meetings, which will begin in Tehran on November 14.
This visit is part of the Literary Bridge, a program organized by Tehran’s Book City Institute to boost literary connections between Iranian and foreign literati.
The group is scheduled to visit Iran’s Academy of Persian Language and Literature, the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the University of Tehran, and some other cultural centers during their eight-day sojourn in Iran, Book City Deputy Director for Cultural Affairs Ali-Asghar Mohammadkhani said in a press release on Sunday.
They will also visit the mausoleums of Hafez and Sadi in Shiraz. Members of the group will deliver speeches in some literary and academic centers during their three-day sojourn in Shiraz.
The group includes professors Marina L. Reisner (State Moscow University), Natalia Chalisova (Russian State University for Humanities), and Maxim Rusanov (Russian State University for the Humanities).
Novelist Ildar Abouzyarov and poet Sanjar Yanishev are other members of the delegation.
Their journey is a part of a project entitled “Iran and Russia Literary Bridge”, which is organized by Iran’s cultural center of Book City, he said.
The cultural center of Book City organized a five-year program based on cultural and literary relations between the two countries. According to the program, the literary bridge will hold meetings annually in each country.
“Russia will host the Iranian scholars and literati in 2013. The program aims to boost literary cooperation between Shiraz and Saint Petersburg, and Tehran and Moscow,” Mohammadkhani added.
The event is cosponsored by Iran’s cultural attaché’s office in Moscow, the Center for the Study of Sadi, Islamic Culture and Relation Organization and the Fars Encyclopedia.
The cultural center of Tehran’s Book also celebrated the birthday anniversaries of the giants of Persian and Russian literature Sadi and Alexander Pushkin during two separate congresses in spring 2012.
