Cultural figures and a large number of journalists attended the ceremony, which was held by the Tehran City Council in the House of Aminozzarb, a beautiful Qajar era monument on Amirkabir Street, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Saturday.
Tehran City Council Chairman Ahmad Masjed-Jamei congratulated the master on his birthday and wished a longer life for the master.
He called Anvaar “the sage of Iranian culture”.
“I tried to get to know the capital Tehran since the time I got to know myself” Anvaar told the guests.
Expert and Director of the Iranian Society for Promotion of Persian Language and Literature Mehdi Mohaqeq, also present at the ceremony, made a brief speech.
He said that he knows no individual like Anvaar who is an expert in many different fields.
Born in 1924, Anvaar is a veteran translator, mathematician and expert on manuscripts especially old math texts.
He was the head of the manuscript department of the National Library of Iran for over 20 years.
He has also compiled one volume of the series of Dehkhoda, the most comprehensive unabridged Persian dictionary.
