TEHRAN – The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) has launched a campaign to announce support for the oppressed children of Gaza.
Entitled “Children for the Children”, the idea of the cyber campaign has been proposed by the anchor of Iranian children’s favorite TV program Uncle Purang (Dariush Farziaii).
In a press conference held here on Sunday, TV producer of children’s programs Moslem Aqajanzadeh and Uncle Purang elaborated on their reasons behind the campaign, the Persian service of MNA reported on Sunday.
“People showed their support during the International Quds Day demonstration, but we should not forget the children who are being killed in Gaza every day,” Aqajanzadeh said.
“We need the support of people and the media. We have launched two websites, www.gaza2014.ir and www.gazachildren2014.com, where internet users can sign a petition in support of the children of Gaza to be later submitted to international organizations,” he explained.
“The teasers to promote the campaign are due to be aired on international Iranian TV channels available on satellite in Persian, English and Arabic,” Aqajanzadeh said.
In addition, he said, “We also plan to communicate with the artists working for children through emails and invite them to join the campaign.”
Uncle Purang next expressed his happiness to have been able to begin a campaign to show solidarity with the children of Gaza. “I believe the first victims of this savage war are the innocent children who have the right to live despite their nationality and religion.
“We disagree with any violence against children especially in Gaza and we hope this campaign would begin and continue its activity to achieve a life without bombardment for children,” he added.
Several artists including actor Parviz Parastuii and filmmaker Kamal Tabrizi have announced their support and have promised to promote the campaign.
