TEHRAN – A conference on the Persian classical poet Sadi will be held in Rome in November.
Entitled “Sadi and Literary Modernism”, the conference will be organized by the Tehran’s Book City Institute, Book City Institute Deputy Director Ali-Asghar Mohammadkhani told the Persian service of ISNA on Sunday.
The decision to hold the conference was made in late June during Mohammadkhani’s visit to an Italian cultural institute in Rome.
An Italian translation of a new selection of Sadi’s poems will be introduced during the event, Mohammadkhani said in a press release on Sunday.
The conference will be held with the help of the Iranian cultural attaché’s office in Rome, Iran’s Sadi Foundation, the University of Rome and the National Central Library of Rome.
Mohammadkhani held literary and cultural meetings with Persian language scholars in several cities of the country during his sojourn in Rome.
Tehran’s Book City Institute also plans to pay tribute to Iranologist couple Gianroberto Scarcia and Biancamaria Scarcia on Iran’s National Day of Hafez, which will be celebrated on October 12 in Shiraz.
Gianroberto Scarcia has translated the Divan of Hafez into Italian.
