TEHRAN – Ali-Akbar Farhangi, known to be the father of Iran’s communications management, was honored during a ceremony at the National Library and Archives of Iran on Monday.A number of officials and cultural figures attended the ceremony including secretary of the Eternal Figures Committee Mahmud Asadi, and director of the Bureau of Media Studies and Planning Mohammad Soltanifar.
Speaking at the ceremony, Asadi said that honoring the veteran is a good step however officials need to pay more attention to communications courses.
Soltanifar next said that Farhangi loves his country Iran. He had many opportunities to live outside Iran but he chose to live and serve his country.
He added that Farhangi also own a rare collection of Iranian music albums in his home.
Farhangi also delivered a short speech and said that his great honor is to see that his students have become masters now.
“I am proud for the kindnesses of God, which have helped me follow the profession that I loved and I tried to do my career in the best way possible,” Farhangi said.
He next expressed his gratitude to all his colleagues and the academics who had attended the ceremony.
The ceremony was brought an end with the unveiling of a stamp issued in honor of Farhangi.
The 71-year old Farhangi, is a graduate of Ohio University and has a post Ph.D. in communications.
He has written several books on communications and management.
Farhangi was honored as Iran’s eternal figure in management in 2005.
