TEHRAN -- The Iranian composer and string instrumentalist Hafez Nazeri unveiled his latest album “Rumi Symphony Project Cycle I: Untold” during a ceremony in Tehran on Sunday.
Sony Classical will release the album worldwide on March 11.
Speaking at the ceremony at Milad Tower, Hafez Nazeri said that his major concern is developing new ideas in music.
“I tried to introduce Iranian music to the world with a new approach to this art,” he added.
“This album is composed of four chapters, first of which focuses on the creation of humans,” he stated.
“The second chapter centers on the Earth, the third features Attar’s ‘seven cities of love’, and the last chapter is dedicated to death and unity,” he added.
Nazeri asked Iranian musicians to unite to globalize Iranian music.
His father, vocalist Shahram Nazeri, the Iranian composer Loris Tjeknavorian, Iran’s Music House Managing Director Hamidreza Nurbakhash and critic Javad Mojabi attended the ceremony, which was held at Milad Tower.
“The release of this album with such a high level of quality by a major international company like Sony Classical is really amazing,” Nurbakhash said.
“I am glad to see that today, the Iranian youth with various outlooks share their new experiences with those who are interested in music,” Tjeknavorian stated.
“This album is the outcome of the efforts of a young man who wanted to express something new,” Shahram Nazeri said.
Co-produced by David Frost and 38 Grammy winning musicians and engineers, “Untold” features Shahram Nazeri, Zakir Hussein, and translations by Deepak Chopra.
The ensemble plans to tour Canada and the United States from March 8 to April 26 to promote the album.
