ICCROM director-general visits Tehran

TEHRAN -- Stefano De Caro, the director-general of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) has traveled to Iran to visit a number of Iranian officials.
 
He also plans to pay visits to the cities of Isfahan and Shiraz during his trip, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Tuesday.
 
De Caro has met with Deputy Director of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) Masud Alavian.
 
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) will be signed between the ICCROM and the CHTHO during De Caro’s sojourn in Tehran, Alavian said in a press conference in Tehran on Monday.
 
According to the MOU, the ICCROM will hold courses for groups of Iranian experts and will expand its activities in the country, he added.
 
Established in Rome in 1959, the ICCROM is an intergovernmental organization dedicated to the conservation of cultural heritage for its 133 member states through training, information, research, cooperation and advocacy programs.
