TEHRAN -- “Gurdaleh and Aunt Ghuli”, an Iranian musical film featuring puppetry, has won Golden Butterflies in four categories at the 26th International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults in Isfahan.
Nadereh Torkamani received Golden Butterflies for best film, best director and Audience Favorite Film during the closing ceremony of the festival at the Gol Narges Hall on Friday evening.
In addition, visual effects supervisor Majid Yusefzadeh won a Golden Butterfly for Best Technical and Artistic Achievement of Iranian Cinema for his work in “Gurdaleh and Aunt Ghuli”.
“Gurdaleh and Aunt Ghuli” is based on an Iranian folk tale about a smart little boy named Gurdaleh who tries to free his family from being imprisoned by Aunt Ghuli.
Director/writer Vahid Nik-Khah Azad received a Golden Butterfly for Best Screenwriter for “Foster Child” in the National Section. He also won a special jury award for the film.
Golden Butterfly for Best Child Actor went to Arshia Sadeqi for his role in the “Foster Child”.
The Best Young Adult Actor Award of this section went to Mohammad-Javad Eslampur for his role in “The Little Man”.
“The Beginning of the Night” by Moin Samadi was named best animated film in the National Section.
In the International Section, “I Wish” by the Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda was crowned best film.
“Buta” by Ilgar Najaf from the Republic of Azerbaijan was selected as the Best Asian Film.
The Taiwanese director Lu Looloo was awarded with the Best Director Award for his film “Life is Wonderful”.
The Best Short Film Award went to “The Stubborn Mule and the Remote Control” by Hélio Nunes from Brazil.
The Russian actress Anastasiya Molotilova won the Best Actress Award for her role in “Playing with the Dolls”.
The Best Screenwriter Award went to Rahbar Qanbari for “Growing in the Wind” from Iran.
The Iranian animation “Red Line” won the best short animated film award.
The best feature animated film award went to “The Day of the Crows”, a joint production of France and Belgium.
The CIFEJ Jury Award of the festival went to “Ways to Live Forever” by the Spanish director Gustavo Ron.
The Iranian movie “The Pearl” by Sirus Hassanpur received a UNICEF award at this festival.
