12th Resistance film festival kicks off in Kerman

TEHRAN -- The 12th edition of the Resistance, Revolution and Sacred Defense International Film Festival was inaugurated at Shahid Bahonar Hall in Kerman on Monday.
 
Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini and a group of Iranian and foreign cineastes attended the opening ceremony of the event. 
 
About 150 films from Iran and several other countries including France, Italy, Britain, Norway, Belgium and Russia will be screened during the five-day-event, organizers announced on Tuesday.
 
The festival is being held simultaneously in Kerman as well as six other cities: Helsinki, Istanbul, Beirut, Kabul, Dushanbe, Pyongyang and Damascus.
 
Also at the opening ceremony, over 100 Iranian and foreign participants including cineastes, artists and organizers of the festival signed a petition to condemn the anti-Islamic movie “Innocence of Muslims”, which insults the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S). 
 
The ceremony continued with introducing and honoring the best film photo, short film and documentary with the central theme of resistance.
 
The best photo award went to Javad Jalali, the photographer of “Berlin-7”; and “Death of the Hands” by Ali Mollaqolipur got the best short film award.
 
In addition, the best documentary award was handed to “Crime in Silence” by Behruz Nuranipur.
 
According to the organizers, fourteen films will be competing in the international section of the festival.
 
“Burnt by the Sun” directed by Nikita Mikhalkov from Russia, “Outside the Law” by Rachid Bouchareb and “Free Men” by Ismael Ferroukhi from France, “18 Days” by Ahmad Abdallah and Mariam Abou Ouf from Egypt and “Beyond the Border” by Richard Holm from Sweden are some of the entries to the international section of the festival, which will be running until September 28. 
 
“Golchehreh” by Vahid Musaiian, “33 Days” by Jamal Shurjeh, “Days of Life” by Parviz Sheikhtadi and “The Queen” by Mohammad-Ali Ahangar are some of the Iranian entries to the international section.
